The Story Behind the Work

Built from the ground up. Across continents, industries, and everything in between.

Origin

How I got here

I grew up watching my parents build things in Zimbabwe—not with capital or connections, but with patience and clarity. That taught me something early: constraints force better thinking. When you can't throw money at problems, you learn to see them differently. You learn to ask better questions. You learn what actually matters.

I started Kubatana Online because I saw a gap. Businesses in Africa needed operational help, but they needed it from someone who understood the context—the infrastructure, the talent, the rhythm of doing business here. Not a consultant flying in for a week. Someone embedded. Someone who cared about the outcome.

That company taught me more than anything else. It taught me how to build teams across borders, how to scale without losing quality, how to make decisions with incomplete information. It taught me that the best operators are the ones who stay curious and humble. "The moment you think you know everything, you stop learning," I tell people. And in emerging markets, learning is survival.

Now I spend my time advising founders and operators who are doing serious work. I speak about what I've learned. I write about it. And I'm building the next thing—something that sits at the intersection of technology and human judgment, which is where the real leverage is.

The Drive

Everything Tendayi has built started with a standard set long before the businesses, the teams, or the continents.

From Grade 7 in Harare to a 20,000 sq ft warehouse in the UK, to building distributed teams across continents, Tendayi has never built for the highlight reel. He has built because the standard demanded it. Every venture, every team, every reinvention has been driven by the same conviction: that hard work, discipline, and humility still matter, and that the results will speak for themselves.

The Belief

Tendayi believes the most valuable thing a builder can do is tell the truth about what building actually takes.

Behind every business Tendayi has built is a belief in the people around him, his family, his team, and the talent he has spent years championing through Kubatana Online. He built his personal brand on the same foundation: the conviction that sharing the unfiltered reality of the journey (not the polished version), is what actually creates trust, connection, and impact.

The journey

Different seasons, same principles.

1986 - Where it all began.

Growing up in Zimbabwe, my parents were deeply committed to one thing above everything else — education. They believed that knowledge, discipline, and character would open doors no matter where life took us.

1991 - Leadership before I understood leadership.

By Grade 7, I had been appointed Head Boy of Hellenic School — becoming the first Black student at the school to receive the role at that time.

1997 - The making of the man.

This photo was taken during my final years at St George’s College in Harare — one of Africa’s most respected schools. My years at Saints played a major role in shaping my mindset and identity. I immersed myself in everything I could: senior prefect leadership, Head of House, athletics, rugby, public speaking, competition, brotherhood, and discipline.

2005 - The day responsibility became real.

This was the day I committed myself to building a life, a family, and a future with the woman I chose to walk through life with.

2014 - Building something from nothing.

By 2014, I was living in the United Kingdom and building my first major business — TMF Logistics.

2016 - Learning never stops.

Here I am graduating from the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Programme in partnership with Aston University Business School.

2022 - Kubatana Online was born.

Kubatana means “working together.” After years of building businesses and managing teams, I saw a much bigger opportunity — helping businesses around the world scale sustainably through global talent.

2025 - The picture that changed everything.

Sometimes transformation begins with honesty. This photo was taken during a family celebration with my brothers and my son. While everybody else saw a happy moment, I saw something different.

2026 - Built. Not Borrowed.

This chapter is still being written. Today, I’m focused on becoming the strongest version of myself — physically, mentally, spiritually, and professionally. I’m documenting the wins, the setbacks, the lessons, the discipline, and the reality behind building businesses, building health, and building identity. The brand “justendayi” was born from that journey.

Value

Where I add value

Three areas where I help.

Operational
clarity

Turning complexity into systems that teams can actually execute without constant oversight.

Cross-Border
Execution

Building and managing distributed teams that perform at the level of in-house — at a fraction of the cost, and without losing control of quality.

Building teams
and partnerships

Finding the right people and structure. Moving fast without breaking what matters.

Strategic
thinking

The most expensive decisions are the ones made confidently in the wrong direction. I help founders slow down at the right moments and move fast at the right ones.
